Zelenskyy: Belarus Should Not Be Drawn Into Russia’s Fantastical Ideas

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the possibility of an offensive against Ukraine from Belarus.

According to Zelenskyy, Russia has many “disturbing ideas”, but he does not want Belarus to become involved in them.

“Regarding the threat of an offensive from Belarus. Look, the Russians have many different disturbing and fantastical ideas. Therefore, we very much do not want Belarus to be drawn into these fantastical ideas so that they turn into a terrible reality”, Zelenskyy told journalists on April 23.

The head of Zelenskyy’s office Kyrylo Budanov commented on possible threats from Belarus as follows:

“Anything is possible in life. But there are intelligence agencies that are closely monitoring this. Certain signs of threats may exist — this can never be ruled out. This means, as a former head of the HUR, I can tell you that vigilance must be increased. First and foremost, by the intelligence services. They have already done this, so do not worry — nothing will happen unexpectedly”, Budanov said (quote via novyny.live).

Last week, Zelenskyy said Russia was trying to draw Belarus into the war and warned the “de facto leadership” of Belarus that Ukraine is ready to defend its territory.
