Woman Drowns in the Western Dvina River in Vitsyebsk

Two fatal water incidents were recorded in the Vitsyebsk region on June 11, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

During the day, the body of a drowned woman born in 1969 was discovered in the Western Dvina River near Maksim Gorky Street in Vitsyebsk. Rescuers recovered the body from the water about one metre from the shore. Medical personnel confirmed her death.

Later that evening, rescuers from the Dubrouna District Department for Emergency Situations responded to a report of a drowning victim in a quarry in the agrotown of Buda. The man’s body was found floating on the water surface about seven metres from the shore. Rescuers recovered it and brought it to land.

Investigative authorities are establishing the circumstances of both incidents.
