U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv on September 6 as part of Washington’s diplomatic efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. The Kyiv Independent reported this.
The visit came a day after Witkoff and Kushner held talks with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The meeting lasted more than three hours. The Kremlin described it as “substantive and constructive,” but no agreements on key issues were reported.
Before meeting the U.S. delegation, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Ukrainian negotiating team.
«We are ready for negotiations. Ukraine has always been and will remain a constructive party. We are interested in ending the war as soon as possible. Peace is necessary. Security guarantees are necessary. A dignified post-war peace is necessary. Our proposals are ready. It is important to work in a coordinated, substantive and realistic manner», he said.
According to Kyiv Independent sources, national security advisers from Germany, France and the United Kingdom may also take part in the talks.
