A 52-year-old Viachaslau Vidmant from Ashdod was killed in an Iranian missile strike on Tel Aviv. According to Channel 9, he was originally from Viciebsk, Belarus.
Vidmant worked as a security guard for a company contracted by the Tel Aviv municipality to provide security at buildings damaged by Iranian missiles and evacuated by residents. At the time of the strike, he was guarding one of these buildings.
Vidmant’s shift ended at 22:00—half an hour before the strike. For unknown reasons, he did not leave his workplace. When air raid sirens sounded over the city, he entered a shelter but then, without waiting for the all-clear, went back outside. Fragments of an Iranian missile with a cluster warhead fatally struck him in the head.
“A missile with a cluster warhead does not have great power, but if you are in an open area, you are exposed to numerous fragments,” said Tel Aviv District Police Chief Haim Sargarof.
According to the Israel Police press service, one person was killed and five others were injured to varying degrees as a result of the strike on the night of March 28.
