Belstat has published the results of a sample household survey on employment issues for the third quarter of 2025. As part of this study, the unemployment rate was calculated according to the methodology of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Between July and September, the employment rate among people aged 15–74 reached 69.1%, while the unemployment rate stood at 2.4% of the labor force. Compared with the first quarter, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points, and the employment rate rose by 1.1 percentage points. Unemployment under the ILO methodology hit a record low.
The unemployment rate among women was 2% (down 0.2 percentage points from the second quarter), and among men 2.8% (down 0.3 percentage points, unchanged).
In urban areas, the unemployment rate was 2.6% (down 0.1 percentage points), while in rural areas it stood at 1.8% (down 0.8 percentage points).
The employment rate among people of working age was 85.7% (up 1.2 percentage points from the second quarter), including 86.1% (up 0.3 percentage points) among women and 85.2% (up 1.9 percentage points) among men; 85.3% (up 0.9 percentage points) in rural areas and 85.8% (up 1.3 percentage points) in cities.
More than 64% of respondents looked for jobs through friends or relatives, on the internet, or via the media, with 57.5% seeking help from family and friends. Only 23.9% contacted employment services or used the national job vacancy database, and 14.9% applied directly to organizations.
