Since 2025, Ukraine has been evacuating its citizens from occupied territories through Belarus, using the Domanove-Mokrany border crossing. During this period, more than 1,000 people have returned to Ukraine, Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets said on the air of Den.LIVE.

“Regarding the evacuation. Since 2025, as part of my negotiations with my Russian counterpart, we have opened a channel for the return of Ukrainian citizens from temporarily occupied territories. Indeed, we are doing this through the only crossing point located between Ukraine and Belarus. On our side, this is Volyn region, and our citizens return from there every day,” Lubinets said.

According to him, since the channel was opened, Ukraine has managed to return more than 1,000 of its citizens.

When evacuating people with limited mobility and those with medical conditions, the International Committee of the Red Cross provides assistance. The organization provides ambulances to facilitate travel through the occupied territories, Russia and Belarus.

It should be recalled that prisoner and military remains exchanges also take place through Belarusian territory.
