Ukraine’s Air Force reported losing contact with an F-16 fighter jet during a combat mission on July 29.
According to the military, the aircraft was carrying out a mission to intercept aerial targets along one section of the front line. Preliminary information indicates that an onboard emergency occurred, forcing the pilot to eject.
The pilot was successfully evacuated. The military said he is safe and has been taken to a medical facility for examination.
Specialists and law enforcement officers are working at the crash site. According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, no civilian casualties or damage were recorded as a result of the incident.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
