On September 13, Ukraine held a farewell ceremony for Belarusian volunteer Tsikhan Kliukach, call sign “Frants”.
“The guard of honor paid tribute to the Hero with three volleys, while the Belarusian, Ukrainian and 60th Mechanized Brigade flags were handed over to the representative whom Tsikhan had designated in advance,” the Belarusian Volunteer Corps Telegram channel reports.
Kliukach was killed on May 9 in the Lyman direction. The evacuation and identification of his body took four months.
In 2020, Kliukach was detained for taking part in one of the marches. He was charged with malicious hooliganism and participation in group actions that grossly violated public order and sentenced to 1.5 years in prison. After his release in 2022, Tsikhan left Belarus and joined Belarusian volunteers in Ukraine.
