On February 26, Ukraine and Russia carried out an exchange of the bodies of those killed. This was the second such exchange since the start of the year. Russia handed over 1,000 bodies to Ukraine.
“Today, repatriation measures took place, within the framework of which 1,000 bodies (remains) of the deceased were returned to Ukraine, which, according to preliminary information from the Russian side, may belong to Ukrainian defenders.
Further, investigators of Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies, together with representatives of expert institutions, will carry out all necessary measures aimed at identifying the repatriated deceased,” the Coordination Headquarters of Ukraine for the Treatment of Prisoners of War said.
Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said that Ukraine handed over the bodies of 35 people to Russia.
