Two Ukrainian citizens and one Belarusian citizen will stand trial on charges of trespassing on the territory of a military base in Gdynia, RMF24 reported.
According to Mariusz Duszyński, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk, criminal proceedings were initiated on November 24 this year. Initially, the investigation was conducted by the police, but it was later transferred to the Military Gendarmerie.
On November 24, the suspects were charged with violating a protected area and unlawfully entering a fenced facility. The charges were brought against two Ukrainian citizens and one Belarusian citizen permanently residing in Poland. The suspects are 21-year-old Dymytro D., 19-year-old Andrii B. and 20-year-old Maksim Y.
All three admitted their guilt and exercised their right to give explanations. No preventive measures were imposed on the suspects.
As part of the procedural actions, mobile phones used by the defendants were seized. The devices were transferred to the Main Command of the Military Gendarmerie in Warsaw, where copies are being made and their contents analysed.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The Military Gendarmerie is currently carrying out the prosecutor’s instructions, and further procedural decisions will depend on the results of the examinations being conducted. In this regard, the representative of the district prosecutor’s office noted that no additional details of the case are being disclosed at this stage.
Earlier, it was reported that late in the evening of November 23 three unidentified individuals entered the territory of the 33rd Air Defence Missile Division in Gdynia. A patrol arrived at the scene and detained one person, while the others managed to escape at that time. The detainee turned out to be a Belarusian citizen. He was intoxicated and claimed that he had lost his way and did not realise he had entered a military facility. Photos of the port and “signs of activity indicating a search for an unspecified package” were found on the man’s phone.
