A 41-year-old employee of a state organization has been charged with accepting a bribe, while a 60-year-old employee of a private company faces charges of giving a bribe.
The Vitsebsk resident worked as a chief specialist at a state organization but was not classified as a public official. According to prosecutors, he received an illegal payment for promoting the interests of a private company in the procurement of seeds, fertilizers and plant protection products.
“As part of his job duties, the defendant deliberately drafted technical specifications tailored to products sold by the company. He declared its bids compliant with the requirements and voted in favor of the company winning tenders and exchange auctions. As a result, a number of contracts were concluded between the organizations,” the prosecutor’s office said.
The bribe amounted to 14,700 Belarusian rubles.
Both defendants remain under travel restrictions and are required to comply with rules of conduct pending trial.
