Two More Stations Removed From Minsk Metro Construction Plan — Nasha Niva

Two more stations have been removed from the construction plan for the fourth line of the Minsk metro, which is intended to be a circular line: “Kiyeuski Skver” and “Politekhnicheskaya,” Nasha Niva reports. Earlier, the authorities had also abandoned plans to build the “Profsoyuznaya” station on the third line.

The future circular line had previously been planned to include 17 stations, six of them transfer hubs. However, a January 13 publication in the newspaper “SB. Belarus Segodnya” now refers to only 15 stations, indicating that the project has been scaled back, the authors note.

The “Kiyeuski Skver” station was supposed to be built at the intersection of Orlovskaya and Gaya streets, between “Maksima Bahdanovicha” and “Staravilenski Shlyakh,” while “Politekhnicheskaya” was planned at the intersection of Surganova and Yakuba Kolasa streets, also between “Maksima Bahdanovicha” and “Drukarskaya.”

Changes to the plans have been observed since 2025. In May, chief engineer of the municipal enterprise Capital Transport and Communications Andrei Illarionov said the line would have 17 stations, but by October, chief engineer of Minskmetroproekt Georgy Protasov reported a reduction to 16 stations without specifying which one had been removed. The “Kiyeuski Skver” station is believed to have been the first casualty.

Construction of the fourth line is scheduled to begin next year. The first section will run from “Maksima Bahdanovicha” toward Vesnyanka. After the transfer hub, the planned “Kiyeuski Skver” station will be skipped, with “Staravilenski Shlyakh” becoming the next station to be built.

Earlier, the authorities canceled construction of the “Profsoyuznaya” station on the third line, citing a reassessment of feasibility and the proximity of neighboring stations.
