Two illegal moonshine production sites have been dismantled in Minsk Region, the Belarusian Interior Ministry’s press service reported. According to the ministry, a local police inspector from the Maladzyechna District Department of Internal Affairs received information about moonshine being produced for sale. With the support of OMON officers, the illegal operation was shut down.
In an outbuilding belonging to a 38-year-old resident of the village of Viazavets, police discovered a moonshine still, more than five tonnes of mash and about 400 litres of finished product. In a vehicle located on the property of a 42-year-old resident of the village of Nasilava, officers seized polymer containers with a total volume of 420 litres containing liquid with the characteristic smell of homemade alcohol. An expert examination has been ordered.
The Interior Ministry reminded the public that producing, storing or transporting alcoholic products without a licence, as well as possessing equipment used for their production, is punishable by a fine of up to 30 basic units and confiscation of the items involved in the offence.
