Positive trends continue in exports of Belarusian goods. Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn made the statement at a working meeting devoted to first-quarter foreign trade results.
“We already have preliminary results for the first four months. They show that the positive trends we saw at the end of the first quarter are continuing to strengthen. We are increasing our export growth rates. At the same time, behind these overall figures, it is important for us to see the details,” the prime minister said.
As a reminder, the foreign trade deficit in goods narrowed in January–March. In the first quarter, Belarusian exports increased by 20.3% to $11 billion, while imports rose by 14.6% to $12.42 billion. The foreign trade deficit amounted to $1.4 billion, which was 16.4% lower than in the same period last year.
Belstat is expected to publish preliminary foreign trade data for January–April at the end of this week.
