Turchyn: Agreements With Russia Allowed Oil Refineries to Achieve a Good Financial Result

Agreements with Russia reached last year allowed Belarusian oil refineries to achieve good financial results. This was stated by Prime Minister Alyaksandr Turchyn at a meeting on the results and plans for the oil refining sector held at Naftan.

“Last year, let’s say, the government of our country took serious support measures for our oil refineries. Good agreements were reached with our partners from the Russian Federation, as well as a number of other measures that allowed us to stabilise the operation of our oil refineries and obtain, in my opinion, a fairly good financial result,” the head of government said.

Earlier, Belarusian officials stated that domestic refineries had switched to processing Russian tolling crude. Oil products are shipped to Russia, with part sold on export markets. This ensures profitability of 7–8%.

Alyaksandr Turchyn noted that he would like to hear from industry representatives how they intend to build on last year’s success. The meeting was also devoted to investment projects, including a review of the situation at Belorusneft.
