Tsikhanouskaya Thanks Spain’s Foreign Minister for Decision on Belarusian Passports

The head of the United Transitional Cabinet, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, thanked the Spanish authorities for their decision to recognize expired passports of Belarusian citizens. On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, she expressed her appreciation to Spain’s foreign minister, José Manuel Albares.

According to her, the recognition of expired passports will allow Belarusian citizens to continue resolving administrative and migration-related issues without additional obstacles.

“I sincerely thank the Spanish authorities for this decision. And separately — the Belarusian diaspora in Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid and the Canary Islands, the People’s Embassies, as well as in particular the organization Associació RAZAM Bielorússos de Catalunya, who consistently helped push it forward. This is major work, and it became possible thanks to many people on both sides. Thank you all. This is a case when long-term work produces a very concrete result for Belarusians,” the democratic leader said.
