The meeting took place at the Free Belarus Museum. Participants discussed the problems released Belarusians face in Poland, including legalization, replacing driver’s licenses, obtaining bank cards and opening bank accounts.
There were many questions about the further release of political prisoners: how this work is progressing and what else can be done for those who remain behind bars. The participants also discussed the ongoing pressure on relatives of political prisoners in Belarus, Tsikhanouskaya’s Office reported.
“There is a great deal of daily work behind providing assistance after release. Some people help with documents, others accompany them to the bank or find answers to questions that the person is facing for the first time. I am very grateful to the ‘Volny’ team, volunteers and all the organizations that take on this responsibility. It is important that people can turn to someone for help and receive it promptly. We must continue our efforts to ensure that everyone who has been unjustly imprisoned is released,” the democratic forces leader said.
