Trump Supporter Granted Asylum in Belarus Has Returned Home, Svaboda Reports

US citizen Evan Neumann, who was granted asylum in Belarus, has returned home, according to Radio Svaboda, citing sources.

Following the 2021 storming of the US Capitol by supporters of Donald Trump, Neumann faced 14 charges, including assaulting a police officer. Later that year, he appeared in Minsk, where he was granted asylum and repeatedly featured on state propaganda programmes.

Last year, after taking office, Donald Trump pardoned Neumann along with other participants in the Capitol riot. In January 2025, he was removed from the FBI’s wanted database. He subsequently returned to the United States.

In Belarus, Neumann lived in Brest, where he opened the Route 66 restaurant and also taught English. The restaurant closed in the summer of last year, and he has not been associated with the language school for some time.

Sources cited by Svaboda said Neumann returned to the United States shortly after receiving the pardon.
