US President Donald Trump again asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop strikes on Russian oil refineries, Axios reports, citing sources.
Trump and Zelenskyy spoke on Sunday. After the call, the Ukrainian president said he had agreed to meet with the US president in New York.
A source told the publication that the word “diesel” was mentioned repeatedly during the conversation.
Donald Trump had previously said publicly that the price of diesel fuel in the United States was being affected not by the conflict with Iran, but by strikes on Russian oil-refining infrastructure. Trump also announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an energy ceasefire, but the agreement was not implemented in practice.
