Truck Carrying BYN 180,000 Worth of Nicotine Products Detained at Belarus-Russia Border

Vitsyebsk customs officers uncovered the illegal importation of more than 10,700 units of nicotine-containing products during special enforcement operations. The goods were being transported in an IVECO truck operated by a Belarusian carrier.

According to the State Customs Committee press service, customs officers found during an inspection that the shipment was being transported using invalid documents. The information contained in the documents did not correspond to reality: the Russian company listed as the consignor had been liquidated and had officially ceased operations. The value of the shipment exceeded BYN 180,000.

Vitsyebsk Customs has initiated administrative proceedings for violating the procedure for transporting goods. The relevant provision provides for a fine of up to 50% of the value of the предмет of the offense.
