Traffic to Be Restricted in Minsk on October 1–2

Traffic restrictions affecting all vehicles will be introduced in Minsk on October 1–2. They will affect central avenues and the Minsk Ring Road.

The Interior Ministry said the following roads will be closed to traffic:

October 1 — from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Nezalezhnastsi and Peramozhtsau avenues, as well as Yanka Kupala and Lenina streets; from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Masherava and Peramozhtsau avenues, Yanka Kupala, Starazhouskaya, Paulina Miadzelki and Narachanskaya streets, as well as the Minsk Ring Road.

October 2 — from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Masherava, Peramozhtsau and Nezalezhnastsi avenues, as well as Yanka Kupala and Starazhouskaya streets.

“On October 1 and 2, brief restrictions on all types of vehicles may also be introduced on other sections of the road network,” the Interior Ministry warned.

The restrictions are most likely related to international visits. In two cases, roads will be closed as far as the Palace of Independence, and in one case, as far as the exhibition center. A meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers is scheduled to take place in Minsk on October 1, while the city is currently hosting the Innoprom industrial exhibition.
