Prime Minister of Belarus Alyaksandr Turchyn today met with a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Davron Vakhabov, Chair of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
According to the government press service, the delegation included business representatives from livestock farming, construction and design sectors. The purpose of the visit includes:
Welcoming the delegation, Alyaksandr Turchyn noted that he had recently visited Uzbekistan and described the trip as productive. According to him, the visit of the Uzbek delegation to Belarus will help resolve issues ahead of the planned visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“Our meeting with Shavkat Miromonovich will undoubtedly give a new impetus to our relations. Of course, we are waiting for him in our country. By the time of this visit we must resolve as many of the issues discussed in Uzbekistan as possible,” Turchyn said.
After the meeting with the prime minister, Vakhabov spoke about specific projects.
“We brought with us entrepreneurs involved in livestock farming and agricultural production who plan to open a trading house. Two days ago our first trip was to the Vitsyebsk region. We visited three districts there and saw very great potential. Uzbekistan has a population of about 40 million, and for our entrepreneurs engaged in livestock farming it will be beneficial and convenient to create such cooperation where they will themselves raise livestock and develop dairy production. We have decided to establish cooperation in the Vitsyebsk region in the shortest possible time. As the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Trade and Investment, we must create a format so that real projects can now be implemented,” he said.
According to Vakhabov, an Uzbek entrepreneur has already opened a 40-room hotel in Smarhon. He has also purchased a sanatorium and is investing 15 million dollars in it. In addition, he is implementing a yarn production project that is expected to be launched in 2027.
The delegation also visited the Kamvol enterprise, where, according to him, “common interests” were identified.
