Three Teenagers Detained for Developing Malware

Interior Ministry officers have detained three people who were developing ransomware. Criminal cases have been opened.

According to the Interior Ministry, a 17-year-old resident of Pinsk was developing malicious software, including with the use of artificial intelligence. On a specialised online forum, he met two residents of the Hrodna region, aged 17 and 18. Together, they developed, modified and tested ransomware trojans that block access to data on victims’ devices, as well as software designed to steal Telegram accounts.

The young men planned to establish a hacking group to distribute malware and extort money, but all three were detained.
