Third-Year Student In Slutsk District Suspected Of Torturing Dormitory Neighbor

In the Slutsk District, a third-year student is suspected of torturing a first-year student in a dormitory at one of the local educational institutions. According to the Investigative Committee of Belarus, at the beginning of the academic year, a 16-year-old student was assigned to share a room with him. A month later, the younger student became the target of strong hostility from his senior roommate.

In early September, the 18-year-old student, along with an acquaintance, entered the room where the teenager was staying. He locked the door and decided to torment the newcomer.

He pushed the victim onto the bed and handcuffed his wrists behind his back with metal cuffs he had previously bought online. The attacker then wrapped the teenager’s face and head with duct tape, put on boxing gloves, and began beating him while insulting him. The second young man recorded the abuse on his phone. The senior student then took out an object resembling an air pistol, reloaded it, and fired twice at the teenager’s left knee with plastic pellets. The assault was interrupted by a sudden knock on the door, prompting the attacker to stop and hide the tools of torture.

The teenager remained silent about the incident for some time, fearing being labeled a “snitch.” However, the video of the abuse was later shared in a local student chat, where it was seen by the dormitory floor leader, who demanded that the perpetrator hand over all items shown in the recording.

Investigators from the Slutsk District office of the Investigative Committee have opened a criminal case under Part 2, Article 154 of the Criminal Code (“Torture committed against a person known by the perpetrator to be a minor”).
