“Just had a productive call with the newly appointed U.S. Special Envoy for Belarus, Mr. John Coale, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Eastern European Affairs Chris Smith. I congratulated Mr. Coale on his appointment and expressed my sincere gratitude to President Trump for his leadership in promoting peace in our region and for his continued attention to Belarus — especially for his efforts to free 1,300 Belarusian political prisoners,” the democratic movement leader wrote following the conversation.
