Strong Winds to Persist on Friday as Storm Warning Issued

Weather forecasters have once again issued a storm warning with an orange level of danger.

“In the morning and afternoon of May 29 (Friday), northwestern winds with gusts of 15-20 meters per second are expected in many parts of the country and in Minsk,” the statement said.

An orange weather danger level has remained in effect in Belarus throughout the week. Yesterday, wind gusts reached speeds of 26 meters per second. According to the Emergency Situations Ministry, 229 cases of fallen trees were recorded in all regions except the Brest region.

In the coming days, weather conditions in Belarus will be determined by a cold and unstable air mass arriving from northwestern Europe. On May 29, partly cloudy weather is expected at night, with cloudy conditions and clear spells during the day. Short-term rain is forecast across most of the country. Thunderstorms are expected in some areas during the day. Minimum nighttime temperatures will range from +3°C to +8°C, while daytime highs will range from +8°C in the northeast to +19°C in the southwest.
