Strong Winds Disrupt Operations At Orsha CHP Plant And Power Supply To 18 Settlements

Vitsyebskenergo faced the consequences of strong winds on Thursday. Operations at the Orsha combined heat and power plant were disrupted, and electricity supply to 18 settlements was interrupted. An orange weather alert is in effect in Belarus, with forecasters warning of wind gusts of up to 15–20 m/s.

“Due to strong winds, the 110 kV Orsha CHP – Orsha Severnaya line was temporarily disconnected, resulting in disruptions to the operating режим of the Orsha CHP plant. At present, energy system personnel are working to restore heat supply conditions for consumers”, Vitsyebskenergo said.

According to the regional utility, as of 13:00 work was under way to restore five 10 kV power lines supplying 18 settlements in the Vitsyebsk, Liozna, Orsha and Dubrouna districts.

A total of 44 emergency crews, 151 personnel and 52 units of equipment have been deployed to deal with the последствия of the severe weather.
