State Standardisation Committee Reports Fuel Pellet Consumption Volumes in Belarus

Belarus used 61,600 tonnes of fuel pellets last year, 39% more than in 2024, the press service of the State Standardisation Committee said. Of this amount, households used 4,560 tonnes.

In the first quarter of this year, pellet consumption totalled 38,320 tonnes, 64% more than in the same period last year. Households accounted for 2,650 tonnes of pellet consumption.

In recent years, 64 fuel pellet plants with a combined capacity of 900,000 tonnes have been built in Belarus. They were primarily constructed with exports to EU countries in mind. However, since 2022, wood-processing products have been subject to European Union sanctions imposed in response to the Belarusian authorities’ involvement in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Since then, the Belarusian government has been trying to increase domestic consumption of fuel pellets.
