State Control Committee Identifies Illegal Disposal of Oil Product Waste in Hlybokaye District

The Vitsyebsk Regional State Control Committee identified the illegal disposal of oil product waste by a state-owned enterprise in Hlybokaye District. The violation was uncovered during control and analytical activities involving public inspectors from the State Control Committee.

It was established that during the reclamation of a site following the demolition of an unused facility, the Azertsy agricultural enterprise dismantled an underground settling tank containing oil product waste. A pit was dug for this purpose, and the waste was poured into it.

At the State Control Committee’s request, the contaminated soil was removed. A total of 18.6 tonnes of soil was sent for disposal.

The environmental damage caused was assessed at more than 9,000 rubles. The authorities intend to recover the amount from the person responsible in the near future.

The issue of holding those responsible to account is also being considered. The fine could amount to up to 1,000 base units, the agency’s press service reported.
