The State Border Committee reported the discovery of the body of a deceased migrant from Sri Lanka near the Latvian border.
According to the committee, border guards found two men during the night of October 27–28. One of them was dead. It was established that both men were citizens of Sri Lanka.
The committee claimed that Latvian border guards had detained the men and forced them back into Belarusian territory. The border section in that area runs along a river.
According to the Investigative Committee, the deceased man was 34 years old. A forensic examination has been ordered, and an investigation is underway.
