Belarus’s Information Ministry has updated the “Republican List of Extremist Materials.” Among other items, it now includes pages on Instagram, X and Facebook of the International Society for Human Rights (Internationale Gesellschaft für Menschenrechte / ISHR). The corresponding decision was made on 10 March by the court of the Horki district.

ISHR is an international non-governmental non-profit human rights organization founded in West Germany in 1972. It has participatory status with the Council of Europe and is a member of the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organisations of the Council of Europe.

The list also now includes the TikTok pages “byaroza_info” and “gomelnovosti33,” as well as the Telegram channel “Marginez.”

Belarusian authorities regularly use accusations of extremism to target political opponents and dissent in general.
