The Investigative Committee has launched special proceedings against Aleh Kharavets.
According to the SC, Aleh Kharavets is obliged to appear at the Investigative Committee’s office for the Homiel Region.
The Committee reports that the case is being handled under two articles of the Criminal Code:
— Part 3 and Part 4 of Article 209 — fraud committed on a large scale by an organized group,
— Part 4 of Article 206 — robbery committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale.
No further details of the case have been disclosed.
Special proceedings allow law enforcement to pursue criminal cases against individuals located outside Belarus. Courts may later consider such cases “in absentia”.
