Russian Ombudswoman Thanks Lukashenka for Exchanges on Belarusian Territory

Russia’s human rights commissioner Tatiana Moskalkova thanked Aliaksandr Lukashenka for enabling prisoner exchanges to take place on Belarusian territory near the Ukrainian border.

She made the statement on Saturday during the 72nd exchange in a 175-for-175 format, Sputnik Belarus reported. The exchange also included seven Ukrainian civilians and seven civilians from Russia’s Kursk region.

“It is difficult to find words to express my immense gratitude to the President of Belarus, Aliaksandr Hryhoryevich Lukashenka, and to those people who, together with us, receive both prisoners of war and civilians,” she said.

According to her, the atmosphere created on Belarusian territory makes it possible to reach agreements with the Ukrainian side and provide necessary assistance to people immediately after they cross the border.

“People need emergency medical care and medicines. Some want to immediately get in touch with their relatives,” Moskalkova said.
