The Russian government has adopted Resolution No. 819, allowing the production and circulation of petrol with a sulphur content of no more than 150 milligrams per kilogram until the end of 2026. This complies with the Euro-3 standard.
The government said the decision is aimed at improving the reliability of fuel supplies in Russia and is being implemented “as a preventive measure to avoid destabilisation of the domestic motor fuel market.”
Russian media had previously reported that the government was considering allowing the production of petrol and diesel fuel meeting standards as low as Euro-2. In the end, a less far-reaching decision was adopted.
