Russia will open embassy branches in Homyel and Mahilyow. The announcement was made by Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou during a joint board meeting of the foreign ministries of Belarus and Russia. According to him, Belarusian consulates are actively opening in the Russian Federation, and this is a bilateral process.
“I am grateful to our Russian colleagues for expanding Belarus’ diplomatic presence in the regions of the Russian Federation. In 2023–2025, six branches of the Belarusian Embassy were transformed into general consulates. Only this year, general consulates began operating in Vladivostok, Kaliningrad and Nizhny Novgorod. By the end of the year, we also plan to open a branch in the city of Voronezh,” he said.
Ryzhankou stressed that the process is mutual.
“This is a bilateral process. The opening of Russian Embassy branches in Homyel and Mahilyow is planned,” he noted.
The minister added that consulates and embassy branches constitute a form of “diplomacy within walking distance,” which is needed both by businesses and ordinary citizens.
