Russian Deputy Prime Minister Says Fuel Supplies Are Sufficient, Demand Artificially Inflated

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said Russia has sufficient fuel supplies.

“We have enough fuel on the market,” he said, according to TASS.

Novak’s comments came amid reports of regular attacks on Russian oil refineries and reports of various restrictions on fuel sales in Russian regions and Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine.

“The logistics system is currently being restructured to meet demand. It will take some time to rebalance the market,” he said.

Novak also complained about panic buying, which he said had artificially increased fuel demand by 20-30%.

“There has been considerable panic buying, which has artificially increased demand by around 20-30%,” he said.

At the same time, Novak did not rule out further restrictions on fuel exports from Russia. The measure under discussion is a ban on diesel exports by producers. The proposal is due to be discussed at a government meeting later on Friday.
