Russia to Defer $250 Million in Loan Payments for Belarus

Russia will defer loan payments for Belarus totaling $250 million. This is stipulated by an agreement signed last June in Minsk and Moscow. Today, Russia’s State Duma ratified the agreement between the governments of the two countries amending the terms of certain Russian-Belarusian intergovernmental agreements on credit cooperation.

As reported by TASS, the document concerns the deferral of payments on state loans.

“The total volume of deferred payments amounts to about $250 million. Since the agreement provides for such a deferral, it accordingly requires ratification,” the Russian news agency quoted Russian Deputy Finance Minister Vladimir Kolychev as saying while presenting the ratification bill at the State Duma session.
