Russian authorities have detained a vehicle transporting 2 tonnes of butter from Belarus, according to a statement by Rosselkhoznadzor.
The vehicle was stopped on May 2 in Russia’s Smolensk region. According to the labeling, the butter had been produced by the Polatsk Dairy Plant, but the driver was unable to provide accompanying documents and did not know either the sender or the recipient of the shipment.
Rosselkhoznadzor officials also determined that the butter had been transported in violation of sanitary regulations. Samples of the product have been sent for testing. A decision on the future of the shipment will be made after the examination results are received.
