A combat readiness check has begun in the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade of the Interior Ministry’s Internal Troops, stationed in Vitsyebsk. It is being conducted on the orders of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. The instruction to bring the unit to combat readiness was handed today by Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Aliaksandr Valfovich to Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakou, Belarusian state news agency BelTA reported.
Valfovich recalled that Belarus was continuing an inspection of state bodies within the national security system. Last week, Lukashenka ordered the 51st Artillery Brigade to be brought to full combat readiness.
According to the Security Council state secretary, it was no secret that Lukashenka had tasked officials with checking other structures of the military organization.
“In particular, one of the main ones is the Interior Ministry. Therefore, today the interior minister was handed an order to bring the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade of the Interior Ministry’s Internal Troops, stationed in Vitsyebsk, to combat readiness in accordance with its designated purpose”, he said.
According to Valfovich, this is the first such inspection to be conducted within the Interior Ministry’s structure.
“We will check the entire algorithm and the entire chain — from the setting of tasks by the interior minister to the formation commander. Therefore, we will see what procedures have been developed in the Interior Ministry, unlike in the Armed Forces”, he said.
The focus will be on the combat and mobilization readiness of the Internal Troops, including mobilization and bringing the units up to wartime staffing levels. Troops will be involved in the inspection to bring conditions closer to those of combat. The Internal Troops have been tasked with maintaining public order in the event of destabilization.
“We will see how the experience of the special military operation and other modern conflicts has been incorporated into the Internal Troops. The tasks for the Internal Troops are specific: first and foremost, ensuring public order on the territory of our country amid destabilization.
To make the conditions as close as possible to combat conditions, designated troops will be involved in the inspection. We will see how the brigade commander, while carrying out his tasks, will simultaneously respond to changes in the situation. Therefore, we will assess and examine this and draw the appropriate conclusions, which will be reported to the head of state”, Valfovich said.
