Raft With Belarusian Cigarettes Floats Into Latvia

On Sunday, April 26, Latvian border guards recovered a raft carrying cigarettes from the Daugava River that had drifted from Belarus.

A border patrol spotted a suspicious object in the river near the village of Piedruja. After approaching it by boat, officers found it consisted of eight packages of cigarettes tied together.

A total of 50,000 NZ Gold cigarettes and 30,000 Queen Superslim cigarettes were handed over to the police. A criminal case has been opened.
