Honorary Consul of Belarus in Lucerne (Switzerland) Hermann Alexander Beyeler arrived in Minsk and met with Deputy Prime Minister Natallia Pyatkevich.
“Thank you for coming to our country once again. I want to express gratitude for your courage, because there are, to put it mildly, not many like you — those who, despite all the pressure, remained with us. This is truly invaluable, and we appreciate it,” Pyatkevich said as she welcomed the guest.
She thanked Beyeler for his assistance in various areas, including the recent victory of the Belarusian federation in the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, which was obliged to allow Belarusian athletes to compete internationally under neutral status.
“We hope that FIS will comply with the court’s decision and that our athletes will be able to compete in global events. I know you have many plans across different economic sectors, and we will discuss them in detail today,” Pyatkevich noted.
She expressed interest in deepening cooperation in healthcare — particularly in the pharmaceutical industry — as well as in cultural spheres, including design.
“You always generate many interesting ideas. We will be able to discuss everything today and in the future,” she added.
“It is a great honour for me. I accepted this position with great pleasure,” Beyeler replied.
During his visit, the honorary consul also met with member of the Council of the Republic Siarhei Aleinik. Before that, he travelled to the Vitsyebsk region to familiarise himself with the work of local healthcare institutions.
According to the Council of the Republic’s press service, Beyeler said he fully supports the domestic and foreign policy pursued by Alyaksandr Lukashenka, praising his “principled stance and courage in decision-making, something far from all European politicians can boast, many of whom spend more time talking than taking concrete action.”
