Vladimir Putin said at a press conference during the “Russia Calling” forum on 2 December that Europe is putting forward demands on the peace plan that are unacceptable for Moscow, and also stated that Russia is ready to fight Europe if Europeans want this.
“We are not going to fight with Europe, I have said this a hundred times already. But if Europe suddenly wants to fight us and starts, we are ready right now. There can be no doubt about this,” Putin said.
The Russian president believes that Europe has distanced itself from peace talks and is now only hindering U.S. efforts, trying to block negotiations and putting forward demands that are unacceptable for Russia.
“Even when they (European countries) are supposedly trying to make some changes to Trump’s proposals, we clearly see that all these changes are aimed at only one thing — to block the entire peace process altogether, to put forward such demands that are absolutely unacceptable for Russia, and they understand this,” Putin said.
Putin allowed that Europe might return to the negotiations if it takes into account “the situation that is developing on the ground.”
Putin called the attacks on tankers of Russia’s shadow fleet in the Black Sea piracy and threatened to cut Ukraine off from the sea and intensify strikes on Ukrainian ports and ships calling there.
“First, we will expand the range of our strikes on port facilities and ships that call at Ukrainian ports. Second, if this continues, we will consider the possibility — I am not saying that we will do this, but we will consider the possibility — of retaliatory measures against ships of those countries that help Ukraine carry out these pirate actions,” Putin said.
He also threatened to “cut Ukraine off from the sea” if the attacks on ships continue.
