Vladimir Putin has ordered that no strikes be carried out on Kyiv for three days starting at midnight on Sept. 5. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the decision was linked to the preparation for and holding of contacts in the Ukrainian capital by U.S. negotiators, TASS reported.
“Indeed, such information came from the Ukrainian side. Russian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Putin instructed that, starting at midnight today, no strikes be carried out on Kyiv for three days. This is related to the preparation for and holding of contacts by the Americans in Kyiv,” he said.
Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had announced a ceasefire from midnight on Sept. 5 until Sept. 8. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would not carry out air strikes against Russia during the visit by U.S. representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and expected Moscow to do the same.
