Putin Comments on Possible Talks With Ukraine

Vladimir Putin said Russia had allegedly considered the possibility of resuming talks with Ukraine after the State Duma elections, but that following a Ukrainian Armed Forces strike on Moscow on the night before the vote, Moscow would consider retaliatory measures.

“Therefore, all these actions aimed at so-called reconciliation and the proposal to resume negotiations are on the table; all of this is possible. But after everything they have done, we will think carefully about what we need to do in response. In any case, we will make all decisions in this regard, including on the possible resumption of the negotiation process, based on the interests of the Russian Federation,” Putin said in response to journalists’ questions on September 25.

Putin acknowledged that Ukraine’s strikes on Russian oil refineries had resulted in “certain losses.” He also accused Ukraine of carrying out unprovoked strikes on warehouses belonging to Wildberries and Ozon, while omitting that Kyiv had described them as a response to Russian strikes on Nova Poshta warehouses.

According to Putin, Ukraine must feel the impact of Russia’s retaliatory strikes.
