The Brest Region Prosecutor’s Office has sent four criminal cases involving bribery in the housing and utilities sector to court. The defendants are employees of state-owned enterprises in the utilities and industrial sectors in Baranavichy District, Stolin District, the city of Brest and Minsk Region.
“According to case materials, from June 2024 to March 2026 the defendants received money from employees of a commercial organisation specialising in the sale and servicing of pumping equipment for water supply and sewage systems.
The unlawful payments, essentially kickbacks, were provided in exchange for giving preferential treatment to this organisation as a supplier of imported pumping equipment and as a contractor for its servicing and repair”, the prosecutor’s office said.
The total amount of bribes received exceeded 8,500 Belarusian roubles.
The defendants fully admitted guilt and expressed sincere remorse. Income obtained through criminal activity was fully repaid.
