Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya began a working visit to Tallinn, where she met with the president of Estonia, Alar Karis. According to the Office of the Belarusian politician, the meeting took place in a warm atmosphere.
The sides discussed the military-political situation in Belarus, the dependence of the current authorities on Russia, and their complicity in the war against Ukraine. They also addressed efforts to free political prisoners, including humanitarian initiatives by the United States and the Vatican, as well as hybrid threats and provocations at the border created by the Belarusian authorities. In addition, they discussed possible steps by the international community to compel the regime to stop repressions and hostile actions against Belarusians and neighbouring countries.
Tsikhanouskaya informed the president of Estonia about the cooperation of the democratic forces with the European Union — support for independent media, civil society, and cultural projects, as well as efforts to solve Belarusians’ problems with documents and legalisation. The sides also discussed relations between Belarus and Ukraine and ways to strengthen pro-European sentiment in Belarusian society.
The leader of the democratic forces thanked Estonia for appointing a special envoy for Belarus, supporting Belarusian initiatives, and opening the Office of Democratic Forces in Tallinn. She also invited the president to visit the Mission of Democratic Forces in the Estonian capital.
Karis confirmed support for the democratic forces, civil society, and the European choice of Belarusians. The sides agreed to continue close cooperation in 2026 — in particular on issues of international pressure on official Minsk, the release of political prisoners, and the strengthening of regional security.
