Potash fertilizer prices continued to increase in the second quarter, according to Canadian company Nutrien’s report for April–June.
According to the company, the average selling price of potash fertilizer in the second quarter was $267 per tonne, up $19 from the same period last year. For the first six months of the year, the average price was $266 per tonne, an increase of $31 compared with the same period a year earlier.
During the second quarter, the company sold potash fertilizer in North America at an average price of $295 per tonne, while sales outside the region averaged $259 per tonne.
By comparison, the average selling price in the first quarter was $264 per tonne.
The company’s potash sales volume reached 3.94 million tonnes in the second quarter and 7.45 million tonnes in the first half of the year, roughly unchanged from the same period last year.
Nutrien increased second-quarter potash revenue by 6% to $1.05 billion. Revenue for the first half of the year rose 14% to $1.98 billion.
“Global potash markets remain constructive due to favourable affordability, strong demand across all major global markets and stable supply relative to other commodities. We are maintaining our forecast for global potash shipments of between 74 million and 77 million tonnes in 2026, as expected shipment volumes are projected to remain in line with consumption,” the company said.
