Possibility Of Buying Rental Housing From Employers May Emerge In Belarus

Employees of enterprises living in rental housing provided at their place of work may eventually be given the opportunity to buy it. The proposal was discussed today at a meeting with Aliaksandr Lukashenka. Deputy Prime Minister Aliaksandr Tsierakhau spoke about it after the meeting.

“The possibility of buying rental housing was also discussed at the meeting. We considered it precisely in view of the need to retain personnel at specific enterprises. This applies specifically to housing that will be built by enterprises,” he said, BelTA reports.

Tsierakhau added that the proposal would be worked out. However, employees would have to work for their employer for more than 10 years to buy the housing.

“We have been instructed to create an opportunity to buy this rental housing after reaching a certain length of service. For example, 15, 20 or 25 years,” he said.

The deputy prime minister noted that enterprises will build around 600 apartments for their employees this year.
