Political prisoner Aliaksandra Kasko underwent surgery while serving her sentence in Correctional Colony No. 4. The information was reported by Mayday.Team, citing a source, according to the outlet.
According to the source, Kasko experienced serious health problems over the past six months. She was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. The prison administration initially did not respond to the situation, but after the cyst ruptured, Kasko was transferred to a hospital, where she underwent surgery. She has since returned to Correctional Colony No. 4 to continue serving her sentence.
Aliaksandra Kasko, a medical worker from Vaukavysk, was detained on February 9, 2023, after returning to Belarus from Poland. Following an administrative arrest, criminal charges were brought against her under eight articles, including participation in an “extremist formation”, facilitating “extremist activity” and insulting Lukashenka. On December 19, 2023, a court sentenced her to 10 years in prison.
Two additional criminal cases were later opened against Kasko, one in late May 2024 and another in the spring of 2025. The verdicts in those cases have not been made public.
