Traffic police officers used a firearm in the Ushachy District to stop a driver who failed to comply with their orders.
According to the Interior Ministry’s press service, officers signalled the driver of a Skoda to stop near the village of Zaozerye. He ignored the order and continued driving, prompting a pursuit.
“The offender repeatedly ignored the lawful demands of the police officers and attempted to flee. His actions posed a real threat to the safety of other road users, and the inspectors decided to use their service weapon,” the statement said.
The driver was identified as a 61-year-old resident of the Lepel District. He showed signs of intoxication. The man was taken for testing, which found an alcohol concentration of 1.04 mg/l in his breath.
Five administrative offence reports were filed against him, including one for disobeying police orders. He was placed in a temporary detention facility, and his vehicle was impounded and taken to a secured parking lot.
